Another Successful Year in the Books!

Report card day has come and gone and the buses have run for the last time until August 17th. The 2011-2012 school year has been very exciting for more reasons then I have space to report. From the ground breaking for the new Lawrenceville High School, which is set to be completed in April of 2013, to state basketball success for both our Parkview Junior High School 7th grade girls basketball and 8th grade boys basketball team, Unit #20 experienced success.

Welcome Back!

I wanted to take a brief minute to welcome all of the faculty, staff, students and parents back to the Lawrence County CUSD #20! The year "officially" begins with students for a full-day of student attendance on Friday August 17th. Teachers will be participating in two days of training during Teacher Institute days on Wednesday August 15th and Thursday August 16th. We are so excited to have students and staff back and look forward to another outstanding year in our district!

The First Day!

The bells ring and the doors open. Students off all ages enter freshly cleaned shining halls. Pre-K - 12th graders with backpacks and lunchboxes make their way through the crowded halls slowly moving into their classrooms. Teachers smile and greet all of the fresh excited faces. These are the first days of school everywhere!

TeacherEase

I wanted to remind everyone that you have the ability to follow your child's progress by utilizing the TeacherEase program. You can access the TeacherEase program by visiting the district website at www.cusd20.com or visiting your child's school website. When you are at these websites, simply scroll down the page until you see login information on the right hand side. If you are new to the district or haven't gotten a TeacherEase login username and password, please contact your child's school and they can help you set it up.

Pride

I travel a lot for my job. Wherever I go in this great state of ours, the question is always asked "where are you from?" I proudly announce that I'm the Superintendent at Lawrence County CUSD #20 in Lawrenceville Illinois. Many times the response will be "Oh, the town with the 4 state basketball championships?" or "Isn't that were Marty Simmons is from?" along with other similar type questions. I proudly answer "yes" to all of these types of inquires.

Mid-term

Just a reminder that mid-term for the 1st quarter is this week. Hopefully things are progressing nicely for all of our students. However, if you are notified that your child is behind in a subject, don't hesitate to contact our teachers to discuss the issue. The earlier that the family and school can intervene together, the more likely the issue can be corrected. Also, don't wait for mid-terms to check the progress of your student, use our TeacherEase program! For more information about TeacherEase, contact your child's school.

Have a great day!
Charlie
