CUSD #20 Parents: The increased number of students going to remote learning and the lack of internet access for some students has caused a problem. The school district was able to purchase some hotspots through T-mobile, but those hotspots have been distributed and we are unable to obtain more at this time. I have contacted local businesses in the area to see who would have outdoor WIFI access that they would allow our students to use. The following businesses welcome parents/students to park in their parking lots to use their Internet. Bobe’s Pizza Syd’s Tacos AgriGold Lawrence Public Library We thank these businesses for allowing our students access to their WIFI. Please be respectful of their property and their customers. Also, all three school buildings have outdoor WIFI accessibility.

Friday, September 4th, dismissal time will be the same as it has been all year. Monday, September 7th, we will be off school for Labor Day.

CUSD #20 Parents: If someone in your household is tested for Covid, all school aged children in that home need to be quarantined until the test results come back. We have to work together to prevent the spread of this virus, so please keep your children home when they are sick or when anyone in the home is tested for Covid.

Parkside Elementary students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will be returning to school on Monday, August 31st. Pre-K students will NOT return next week, but will return on Tuesday, September 8th.

Packets are for the face-to-face learners who are out of school this week at Parkside...NOT for those who have been doing remote learning all year.

Packets will be handed out WEDNESDAY, not tomorrow. Sorry for the confusion.

Parkside students and parents: Remote learning packets will be available tomorrow (Wednesday) from 7:30 to 1:30 in the circle drive at Parkside. If you would like the packet delivered to an older sibling at Parkview or LHS, please call the Parkside office on Tuesday. If you would like to pick up a packet for someone else, please notify the staff when you pick up the packet on Wednesday--no calls needed. At this time, we are doing packets, not computers.

Notice: New State guidelines from the IESA now requires face masks to be worn by participants as well as spectators at all sporing events. Therefore, to attend a Parkview baseball or softball game, spectators must wear a face covering for games to continue to be played. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Due to an increase in positive Parkside staff Covid cases, CUSD #20 has consulted with our local health department and have made the decision to close Parkside Elementary starting Monday, August 24th thru Friday, August 28th. REMOTE LEARNERS LUNCH PROGRAM Any CUSD #20 student who is enrolled as a remote learner is eligible for a school lunch starting Monday, August 17th. In order to get the lunch, the following process needs to be followed: A parent needs to call the school that their child would be attending by 9:00 AM to place the order. A family with students in more than one school, must call each individual school to place the order. Orders may be placed up to a week in advance. The menu for the meals will be the same as published for the In School students. Meals will be charged at the same rate that students in the building are paying. If a child is on free or reduced lunch, they will be charged that price. Meals will be available to be picked up at each school between 11:30 and 12:00, no deliveries available. Meals will be disposed of at 12:00. Meals will be available in the building lobby area with student’s names on the meal. All meals ordered will be charged, it is the parent’s responsibility to call before 9:00 AM to cancel a meal.

Lawrence County CUSD #20 wants to publicly thank the wonderful workers at the Lawrence County Health Department for all of their hard work during this ongoing pandemic. Public Health Administrator, Director of Clinical Care Amy Marley and her staff have been a great help in directing the administrators and nurses on a variety of issues. Without their assistance and guidance, we would not be in the position we are to open our schools next week. Additionally, the Health Department will be assigning Clinical Care Coordinator, Allyson Fiscus, FNP to our district as well as the Red Hill District #10 to work with the school throughout the upcoming year. Again, thank you to all the wonderful workers at the Lawrence County Health Department.

Reminder, schools open on Wednesday, August 12 for CUSD #20. Door will open at all buildings at 7:30. Be sure to check out the school website, CUSD20.COM for school news and videos for important information.

For students who will be starting the year on remote learning---computers will be handed out at each building on Monday, August 10th and Tuesday, August 11th from 8:00 - 4:00. If you are unable to make those times, please contact the school through the email: help@cusd20.net or contact your child's building principal through email.

Parkview baseball player's parent meeting has been postponed from tonight to tomorrow night (Tuesday) at the baseball field. Meeting will begin at 5:30.

We are looking for a night time custodian as well as a full-time bus aide. If interested, stop by the Unit Office inside the Parkview Junior High School for an application.

The IESA has reinstated baseball and softball for this fall. Softball has practice next week on Monday thru Friday from 545 to 745pm at Phil Alsman Field. Baseball has parents meeting on Monday August 3rd at 530pm at Unit 20 Ballpark. Baseball practice will start on Wednesday Aug. 5th. Practice times will be announced at parents meeting.

Parkview Junior High School Softball and Baseball players and parents: The IESA has cancelled all fall sports for junior high school.

The CUSD #20 school board will hold a special board meeting Tuesday, July 21 at 7:00 pm to discuss our return to school plan. The meeting will be shown via Facebook Live through the school’s Facebook page.
