Lawrenceville High School has updated its cell phone policy for the 2026–2027 school year to help create a focused, engaged, and positive learning environment for all students.
The updated policy now applies to all personal electronic devices, including cell phones, smart watches, headphones, Meta glasses, and similar devices. During the school day, these devices must be turned off and out of sight. Exceptions include before school, after school, and during a student’s lunch period.
The policy also includes updated consequences for students who do not follow the expectations:
1st Violation: The student will receive a verbal warning, and the device will be confiscated by administration. The student may pick up the device in the office at the end of the school day, after the dismissal bell.
2nd Violation: The student will receive a referral with after-school detention. The device will be confiscated and may be picked up by the student at the end of the day.
3rd Violation: The student will receive a referral with in-school suspension (ISS). The device will be confiscated, and a parent/guardian must pick it up from the office during regular office hours.
Additional Violations: The student will receive a referral with out-of-school suspension (OSS), and a parent/guardian must pick up the device.
The school is also emphasizing the serious nature of using electronic devices to record certain incidents. Any student who uses a device to record a physical or verbal altercation or to record someone in a bathroom or locker room during school hours or on school property will receive an automatic three-day OSS.
